An impressive rock town with rock shapes you will see nowhere else. An educational trail with ladders and footbridges leads between the rocks.
A labyrinth of rock towers and narrow passages
The Tisá Rocks are an impressive rock town made up of dozens of sandstone towers, pillars and strange formations. Some rocks resemble giant chess pieces, others animal heads or gothic cathedrals — there are no limits to the imagination here. An educational trail winds between the rocks with metal ladders, footbridges and narrow passages where you have to squeeze through sideways. It is an adventure for children and adults alike and one of the most entertaining trips in the whole region.
The Greater and Lesser Tisá Rocks
The rock town is divided into two parts — the Greater and the Lesser Tisá Rocks. The Greater Rocks are more accessible, with a marked educational trail and an admission fee. The Lesser Rocks are freely accessible and offer a quieter atmosphere. We recommend visiting both parts — each has its own character. In the Greater Rocks you will be struck by the height of the rock towers and the dramatic views through them; in the Lesser Rocks you will enjoy a more intimate atmosphere and fewer visitors.
A climbing paradise of Central Europe
The Tisá Rocks are among the most popular climbing grounds in Bohemia. The sandstone towers offer hundreds of climbing routes of every grade — from easy ones for beginners to extreme overhangs for professionals. Even if you do not climb yourself, it is fascinating to watch climbers tackling the vertical walls high above your head. At weekends it gets lively here and the friendly atmosphere of the climbing community is infectious.
Practical information for visitors
You can reach the Tisá Rocks from our cottages by car in roughly 30 minutes. Parking by the site is paid. Admission to the Greater Rocks is nominal and the loop along the educational trail takes about 1.5 hours. On the site you will find refreshments, an information centre and souvenirs. Sturdy shoes are a must because of the ladders and uneven ground — take that seriously, you will not enjoy it in sandals. The trip combines splendidly with a visit to nearby Děčínský Sněžník or with shopping just across the German border, a few minutes from Tisá. For more active groups we also recommend a short visit to the Lesser Rocks, which are freely accessible and offer a quieter atmosphere.
