Saxon Switzerland offers several via ferratas of varying difficulty. The best known is the Häntzschelstiege near the town of Schmilka — a demanding route with ladders and iron rungs leading up to a rock plateau. For beginners, the Zwillingsstiege or the Rauenstein via ferrata are a good choice.
What you need
For the via ferratas in Saxony you need your own via ferrata set, harness and helmet — there is no rental on site as there is in Děčín. The alternative is to book a guide who provides the equipment. The via ferratas are freely accessible, with no admission fee.
